Orangeries are designed as a more formal version of a conservatory. An orangery has more timber panelling than a conservatory and the glass roof is set in from the outside walls to create a feeling of more light and space.

As is the case for our conservatories, we use a highly reputable architectural designer who will prepare the plans and submit to your local council as generally Planning Permission or Building Regulations are required for the erection of an orangery.

All our orangeries are primarily manufactured in hardwood.

All the windows and doors to the orangery will be double glazed with any low level glazing having toughened safety glass units.

Ornate pilasters are fitted to the exterior of the orangery, together with an ornate cornice facia.

All our windows and doors will have high quality fittings, which are generally brass, chrome or black finish. However, we can source different finishes if you have a particular requirement.

Sliding box sash style windows will be hung on spiral spring balances with a locking Fitch fastener and vent lock. They will also be fitted with sash pulls and a handle for ease of opening.

Should you require the orangery to have a Georgian appearance then we can use either a plant on bar system or separate glass units.

The plant on bar system is used to provide a narrower Georgian bar appearance which is particularly sympathetic in older houses, conservation areas and Listed Buildings.

All our orangeries, for extra stability and strength, are erected around a steel main-frame. Alternatively we can erect the orangery around a structurally engineered timber main-frame. Both these possibilities will be thoroughly discussed with yourselves in order that we can achieve the best structure for your own individual orangery project.

All flat roof/box gutter parts of the orangery will have a lead grey Sarnafil applied which is a seamless single ply polymeric membrane. This has a much longer guarantee than other traditional flat roofing felt materials.

If required we can use low emissivity glass in the conservatory windows, doors and roof. We can also offer tinted anti-sun or heat reflective glass to the orangery roof, which will keep the orangery cool in the summer and warn in the winter. We also offer self cleaning glass to the orangery roof if required. All the glasses are available in a range of colours.

We can also fit aluminium, thermal, roof vents with either a manual hand winder or electrically operated gear.

We also offer double glazed units that incorporate an integral venetian window blind within the unit. They need no cleaning and are protected from being damaged.

All our orangeries are finished in either wood stain or mirco porous paint, all of which is applied in our Essex factory.
